Packed full of innovative ideas, the latest Transporter is even better equipped than any of its predecessors. And that’s not surprising. You’d be hard pushed to fault this vehicle - its versatility, features, specification and overall good looks make it a winner for all kinds of businesses, and for all kinds of reasons. As an example of the outstanding technology
that has been invested in this range, there are four innovative and extremely economical TDI ‘Pumpe Duese’ (PD) diesel engines. These provide outstanding load-pulling capability, great fuel economy, and make the Transporter an absolute pleasure to drive.

4MOTION® – gets to grips with hard work.

The Transporter 4MOTION® all wheel drive system is designed to maintain traction in poor surface conditions like rain, snow, mud or gravel. By distributing drive to the wheels with the most grip, 4MOTION® offers stable road-holding and enhanced safety, reacting to the slightest loss of traction in milliseconds.
Available with the 130PS engine, 4MOTION® is linked through control units to the vehicle’s dynamic sensors, engine management system and gearbox, and is designed to be compatible with ABS. All vehicles fitted with 4MOTION® also have a locking rear differential for additional traction in extreme circumstances.

Volkswagen Transporter - Panel Van

The versatility of the Transporter panel van is virtually unbeatable. After all, it’s been designed to be flexible enough to handle a wide variety of tasks, with a large number of models available for almost every specialist load. Depending on your requirements, it can be supplied as a short wheelbase with a low or medium roof, or as a long wheelbase with a low, medium or high roof.

The flexibility doesn’t end there. The range consists of four gross vehicle weights, with payloads from approximately 800kg to 1,400kg. These are further complemented by load compartment volumes ranging from 5.8m3 to 9.3m3. With four powerful and economic TDI PD diesel engines to choose from, ranging from 84PS to 174PS, you’re sure to find a Transporter panel van that is perfectly suited to your business.

Body options include a second sliding door, to add flexibility when loading or unloading, and a rear tailgate instead of the standard unglazed twin rear doors, which optionally open to an angle of 250° on long wheel base models.

Inside the load area, you’ll find six or eight load lashing rings, according to wheelbase, to secure your load. When further capacity is needed, another useful feature is that the dual passenger seat back folds forward to help create extra space when carrying a longer load except when an optional bulkhead is fitted.

Volkswagen Transporter - Chassis and double cab

The Transporter chassis and double cab are the ideal platform for a wide variety of specialist applications and conversions. From tippers to boxes, dropsides to refrigerated bodies, the Transporter forms the perfect foundation.

Both single and double cab versions are available as T30 models with a rugged long wheelbase ladder chassis and galvanised bodies. The single cab seats three, while the double cab can carry a crew of up to six. With four doors standard on the double cab (including childlocks on rear doors), it’s easy to get in and out of the vehicle, while inside there’s useful added storage space under the three-seat bench to store valuables or tools. The combination of front wheel drive (with the running gear situated at the front of the vehicle), ABS and perfectly balanced weight distribution, make the Transporter chassis and double cab a safe and secure base to build upon.

The Transporter chassis and double cab dropside is designed to take the effort out of loading and unloading. Supplied as a factory fitted option, the strong aluminium dropside body can be specified for either version. It’s the perfect choice for businesses that simply require a practical workhorse.

Gaining access for your load is made as simple as possible. The easy to operate fasteners release the lightweight aluminium dropsides and tailboard and give easy access to all three sides of the load platform area. Once your load is in place, a number of lashing rings can be utilised to firmly hold your cargo in position. These specially designed lashing rings, when not in use, fold down neatly and sit flush within the load platform surface. When it comes to loading or unloading your Transporter dropside, you’ll find it just couldn’t be simpler!

Volkswagen Transporter - Window Van

The Transporter window van is Volkswagen’s heavy duty answer to passenger carrying. From nose to tailgate, the window van (available as T30 and T32 short wheelbase and T32 long wheelbase), is designed to be practical, flexible and highly accommodating. Seating up to nine (including the driver), the window van features the safety, security, quality, poise and options that make the Transporter range so special.

Standard cab seating consists of single driver and passenger seats (with the option of a dual passenger seat), while behind the cab, there’s the option to specify seating for up to six passengers along two rows of seats, each fitted with 3-point seat belts. Flexibility extends to the body of the window van, with the option to delete windows. The load or passenger floor area is covered in hard wearing rubber to add both grip and protection, while at the rear you’ll find a tailgate as standard with heated window and wash/wipe. Rear wing doors can be specified as an option either with or without windows. Not only that, if you require a multi-purpose vehicle to carry both passengers and load simply specify a kombi pack on T32 models, which adds first row seating, deletes rear side windows plus sliding windows in side door and opposite.

If you’re looking at a van for specialist passenger carrying or conversion, then the window van could be the answer. With the ability to delete windows, specify seating arrangements, choose different wheelbases, roof heights and engines, you’ll find the window van a flexible choice.

4MOTION®

Rain, snow, mud or gravel fail to create a problem for the Transporter’s innovative 4MOTION® all wheel drive system. It’s designed to maintain traction, offer stable road holding and increased safety when encountering poor surface conditions.

4MOTION® reacts to even the slightest wheel slip and distributes power and drive to the wheels with the most grip. All this happens in milliseconds, through control units that are linked to the vehicle’s dynamic sensors, engine management system and gearbox. For the more extreme circumstances you and your van face, you’ll find the locking rear differential, which is fitted as standard to 4MOTION® vehicles, a real benefit giving increased traction by controlling any loss of traction on a rear wheel. This is all controlled via a switch conveniently located on the dash.

For safety, 4MOTION® is compatible with the standard ABS (Anti-lock Braking System). In addition, the 130PS 4MOTION® window van model is equipped with ESP (Electronic Stabilisation Programme) as standard. Another useful feature is the location of the spare wheel, which is fitted under the load bed, allowing maximum carrying space for your cargo.

Available on 130PS T30 short wheelbase and long wheelbase panel vans and window vans, 4MOTION® is there to help you get to grips with hard work. All you’ll need to worry about is suitable clothing as you leave the comfort of your Transporter.

Tiptronic gearbox.

Fully automatic gear changes or fully manual gear changes at the tip of your finger – you choose! The Tiptronic gearbox allows you the choice of moving from automatic to manual gear changes simply by moving the gear lever into a second shift gate. This then allows you to change up or down manually through the gears which gives you greater control under certain driving conditions. Available on the 130PS engine, the Tiptronic gearbox even features a sports mode to maximise responsiveness to
engine power. Tiptronic – it’s the best of both worlds!
